The team at Populous Online have decided to upgrade our rather out-of-date PHP Nuke backend system to a new one with more features, more content, increased sustainability and functionality.

I just surfed Youtube for Populous related videos, and I found THIS! It looks interesting to finally have a new, better and cooler Populous, but when I went to the website the video told me, I realized that this is just another fanmade project that has 90% chance to be dropped or become inactive and never complete. It seems that EA don't want to continue Populous, and even the fans give up - but I understand... EA still holds the copyright for the game, so you can not continue it... but EA should do, seeing as the game is still very popular after 10 years!

As we seen in the User Feedbacks, there is still has interest for Single Player walkthrougs, mostly for newcomers. So, I have written Single Player walkthrougs, a step-by-step guide how to pass each level. You can access it by clicking on Single Player in the Guides menu.

It's good to see that Populous Online is now 4 years old. Yes, it's true. We have survived many server moves, downtimes, technical and other issues, but we survived and became a big site with many infos. So many newcomers heard from us that Populous is still available Online, and it also became the home of the Solar System of Devil Worlds and Populous Downloader. As looking around all other fansites, this is also the most updated one, and still the second oldest one. So, Have Fun Browsing the Site and Play Populous: The Beginning, and stay tuned in the 5th year as many things have planned!

We're happy to announce that today we reached to 100 registered members. I know that this is not a such big number as many websites has more than 100.000 members when they 4 years old, but this fansite is for an old game, which didn't played by that many player like World of Warcraft, so this is so great for us.
Also we're happy to announce the release of Populous Downloader 6 Stable! All users are now using version 5 will automatically gets upgraded. Have Fun! We still wait any bugs you might encounter.

We're happy to announce the release of the first Populous Downloader 6 Beta! Almost all features are now work, including the Live Services, also now it runs on machines with slower HDD access too (fixed a bug caused the loader to crash, so now Populous Downloader won't hold on the screen Loading Program Settings). However, it may still has bugs, as it was not tested enough. If the core freezes on certain modules, the Live Service Host just keeps start using your whole CPU by do nothing, or any other possible bugs appears, please contact us and let us fix it. Please include what did you clicked on before the bug occurred, what error message has displayed - if any - and what happened after that, for example the core frozen and didn't let you go back to the main menu. You can also include a screenshot if you want.
If you were used Alpha versions before, please check the box Upgrade form earlier Populous Downloader 6, or Upgrade from Populous Downloader 5 if you have a copy of Populous Downloader XP Live on your computer. That version will automatically upgrade when Populous Downloader 6 reach the Stable state - in case you don't want to participate in the Beta test.
Edit: There was a critical setup bug that occurred when you freshly installed Populous Downloader, and not upgraded it. It is now corrected. If you have saved an older version of the setup program, please delete it and download the new version. Sorry for any incovenience this caused. If you already installed the program successfully, you don't need to install it again.

We have also upgraded the engine of the picture gallery for better compatibility. While we performing some maintenance on it, we have disabled anonymous commenting for the pictures. It will be enabled soon.

I have recently received messages both on YouTube and on my e-mail, people asking where they could download the game. My simple answer is: Not here! I'm sorry, but this is a Fan Site, not a Warez Site. But, Populous Downloader can offer you some help, but only in case if you really don't have the game. The first Beta - which is not released at the moment of writing this article, look the Populous Downloader page to find out when it is released - has an option called Finder, this is a scanner utility which looks for Populous and MatchMaker on your computer. It is accessible through the Options menu. Run a Deep Scan, and wait until it's over - it will take approx. 5-10 minutes. Either the Apply button will become enabled, meaning you're ready to play Populous (if you can't, Online Restorer can help you), or a new button will appear. Click on it, then you'll know what to do from then.

We have updated the link to Populous Reincarnated, as the old address is now down. Alsu we have added alot of links to active and inactive Populous sites, so check them out!
Also, we have added an upload form to the Contact Us page, now you may attach a file to your message, submit a download to host, or anything else. Please note that this service is yet beta, so if your upload fails, please tell us what error message you got, and we try to fix it. One exception is the message says you're not allowed to upload a certain file, please read the restrictions before attempting to upload anything. Also this is not an exchange service, so you'll not get a download link, just a message says that the file is successfully uploaded. In order to review your submission, please send us a message has include the file name, or use the download submission system and only type the file name to the url box, we'll move your submission to the correct location and edit the url box.
Edit: Later today, we made available for non-registered users to report broken downloads and links. From now, if you encounter one, please use the report broken link button, so we can fix it as soon as we notices the report. We want to ensure to give you always working links, so don't forget what to do if you encounter a broken link!
